Dendera – temple in Upper Egypt

The stairway system leading to the temple roof was designed so that priestly processions could symbolically ascend toward the sun during Egyptian astronomical festivals. This place also fascinates with the presence of Roman emperors, such as Augustus or Tiberius, who were immortalized in reliefs as pharaohs paying homage to Egyptian deities. Every square meter of the ceiling is covered with precise star maps and personifications of night, making a walk through the temple feel like a journey through the ancient cosmos.
